ADAM AND EVE HAD IT GREAT...WHAT HAPPENED?! (video)

For although they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks to him, -Romans 1:21a

Pray First:  Ask God for eyes to see and a heart to feel how bad *sin really is, then ask Him to renew your heart EVERY DAY to treasure Him as you should, then ask God for a heart that loves the truth of God instead of the lies of Satan.  Today is a really serious prayer day isn't it!?  Write this down so you can remember to pray about this often.
(*sin- =means to "not trust God or do what He says")

Lets go over what we already know to be true, OK?!.....Is that OK?!
-We know God created the world and then He created you in His image to show how special He is.
-God wants you to know, love and enjoy Him more than anything.
-God desires to have a close "best friendship" with you.

But today we will learn that:
-Satan is an enemy to God and you.
-Adam and Eve sinned: because they did not love God most of all.

ADAM AND EVE HAD IT GREAT!  WHAT ON EARTH HAPPENED?

Explore the events in Genesis 3:1-7 and underline in your bible important parts of the conversation that took place between Eve and Satan, disguised as the serpent, to see if you can find the problem.

Adam and Eve, the first people, had it great-they had the ability to fully enjoy all of God's wonderful creation and the enjoyment of God Himself as He walked with them in the garden.  Can you imagine that? (I hope so, that is what it will be like again, if you go to heaven.)

Adam and Eve were created to show how special God is by thinking, feeling and acting in ways that would reflect back to God how great and wonderful He is.   But by not listening to God and doing what He said, what they reflected back to God was: "You aren't as great as You say You are. You can't make us satisfy us. You can't really make us happy." And that is *SIN.

They traded the incomparable worth of the glory of God for something that would never really make them happy, showing us just how foolish they and we are in our thinking.

Dig Deeper: Read and underline in your bible the true things that you learn in Romans 1:21-23.

This is an extraordinary example of "falling short of the glory of God!"

To honor God means know and reflect that God is the most special person of all.  One of the ways you can show this is by always thanking God for how good He is to you (and all of us) and by trusting and obeying Him.

Now, put on your thinking cap!

Here are a few questions I'm pretty sure you can answer:
  • Were Adam and Eve thankful for all the good things God had given them?
  • Did they honor God when the disobeyed his command not to eat from ONE tree out of ALL THOSE TREE'S?
  • Who had changed....them or God?
  • Had God stopped being loving, faithful, good and righteous, or had Adam and Eve stopped showing that God was the most special person of all?
  • Do you think you are ever like Adam and Eve?
  • Do you always honor God?
  • Do you always thank Him?
  • Why do you think our own hearts are Adam and Eve's sinful hearts?
Live Action:
Today ask your mom or dad to point out a time when your actions were not honoring to God.  Draw a picture of this. Then pray with your mom or dad and ask God to forgive you.  (That's called "repentance" but we will talk about that later!)

Have a great day Enjoying God and Thanking Him for being Super Special!!

A Verse to KNOW and help you GROW: Practice saying it while you are riding in the car and looking at everything that God has made.

YOU WERE MADE TO ENJOY GOD

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; Psalm 16:11a

Pray First: that God would cause your life to *reflect how special He is. And that you will SEE and LOVE the reason you were MADE- to enjoy God forever in a close, "Best Friend" relationship with Him. Pray that God will cause you to know and love Him more fully.

(*reflect-means to 'be the image of' something.
Ex: Your smile reflects your mommies love!)

Most of the time when you are learning, in kids church, the lessons on the creation of man are always focused on man!

And you are usually taught how special and wonderful people are. Well, it is true that we have been fearfully and wonderfully made and that we are precious to God, but our value isn't because we're great. Our value comes from being created to show and *reflect that God is THE MOST SPECIAL PERSON OF ALL!

We were not made to show off our own greatness and worth, but God's GREATNESS and WORTH.

Explore the events in Genesis 2 and underline in your bible what you learn about Adam and Eve.

How were Adam and Eve supposed to show and *reflect God's greatness and worth on the brand new awesome earth?

Lets get some help from the bible...

They were supposed to be the most happy with God over anything else.
By loving, trusting, obeying and enjoying God.

God, who created EVERYTHING, to show how SPECIAL HE IS, made people to be an ECHO back to Him that says:

"YOU ARE GREAT, GOD!"
"YOU ARE SOOOO WONDERFUL!"
"YOU ARE THE ABSOLUTE BEST!"
"THERE IS NO ONE ELSE LIKE YOU!"
"YOU ARE MY GOD!"
"I WILL TRUST AND OBEY YOU!"

God made you in His image and likeness. That means you were made with the ability to think, feel, talk and act in ways that show how special God is.

So, put on your thinking cap! Here are a few questions I want to see if you can answer:

• In what ways are you different from things like stars, rocks, flowers, trees and animals?

• How are your thoughts different from a dogs thoughts?!

• Can Rusty, a dog, read the bible and think about how great God is?

• Can Zeus, a pet lizard, express love for Jesus? Why not?

• What can you do today and the rest of the week, seriously, to SHOW that God is really GREAT and SPECIAL?

(Write down your ideas and carry it in your pocket as a reminder!)

Read and talk about Psalm 16:11

Live Action! - Write Psalm 16:11a on an index card or small piece of paper and place it on the headboard of your bed!
(Go ahead, do it now.... I'll wait!)
OK!
Say it and really think about it, before you go to bed at night and right after you wake up in the morning.

Do you believe what Gods word says here? That He will Show you the Path that leads to LIFE with Him where there is nothing but happiness?!  I DO!

A Verse to KNOW and help you GROW.

THERE IS NO ONE LIKE GOD! (video)

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Ps 19:1

Pray First: that God would open your eyes today to truly see His Glory in all that He has made, and that you will have a greater understanding and awe of God when He *reveals Himself to you.
(*reveal -means "to let you in on some cool secrets only God knows")

I know most of you already know the creation story from Genesis 1:1-25 but my question for you today is...

Do you know WHY God made everything?

Why did a totally awesome God, who is totally happy in Himself decide to create other things and other creatures?

Seriously take a minute to think about that. Hmmmm.

Well it wasn't because He was lonely.
And it wasn't because he needed something.
He already has everything!!  So, WHY?

The bible tells us why....

It was out of His overflowing happiness in His incomparable greatness and worth that He created all things.

Everything you see on earth is God displaying HIS GREATNESS and letting you know that HE IS A REALLY BIG DEAL!
And THE MOST SPECIAL PERSON OF ALL!

God enjoys displaying how incredible and valuable He is-HIS GLORY-more than anything else. In other words, God created all things to show you how GREAT and SPECIAL HE IS!

It is like the ultimate "SHOW and TELL!"  You can see, smell, feel and touch the glory of God!!

Explore Genesis 1:1-25 and underline in your bible what you learn about how special God is and how his glory is revealed to us!

Live Action! - Look at pictures of things God has created. (That should be easy!) and then pray to God thanking Him for what an amazing Creator He is!

•What do you think God wants you to understand about what He is like when you look at what he has made?

(For example, if you saw a dog barking at the door because he hears someone on the other side, what might God be showing us about what He is like?
A Protector! OK! or Always aware of things I'm not aware of.  OK! Keep going....just like this.)

•When you see all the things that God has made, what should you say to Him?
(Here's a hint, read Psalm 150!)

Read and talk about Psalm 105:1-3

•What should you do this week when you see something that shows you how Great God is? How can you "make known His deeds?"

•Can you give thanks and praise God right now? Huh? Can you? Can you? I bet you can!!

Dig deeper:
Read and underline in your bible the cool things you learn in
Psalm 19:1-4.

(Always read your bible with a pen and ruler or straight edge to make your lines nice!)

God is the Most Special Person of All

A Verse to KNOW and help you GROW:
Say this verse of scripture over and over until you know it by heart, I bet you can do it in 5 minutes...ready, set, try it:

Do you believe what this verse says? If not, tell God about your struggle to believe Him, so he can help you believe the truth.

JESUS IS YOUR "MAP"

One day a friend invited me to visit him on his farm. His directions went something like this: "Go a quarter mile to the edge of the city, and you will see a big, red barn on your left. Go to the next road and turn to your left. Take that road for 3/4 of a mile. You will see a large palm tree. Go right for 4 miles and the you will see a big rock..."  I wrote all of this down, it was tough and only by Gods grace I finally found the farm!

I discovered there were several different ways to get to this mans house, he could have taken me anyway he wanted to. You see, he was my map! What did I have to do? I simply had to listen to him and do what he said. Every time he said "Turn," I did it.  He took me a way I had never been before and could never have discovered on my own.  My friend was my map; he knew the way.

How would you ask Jesus for directions choose A or B:

A. Lord, what do you want me to do? When do you want me to do it? Who do you want me to involve in this along the way? And please tell me how this is going to end up.

Or

B. Lord, as You go with me, tell me what to do one step at a time. I will do it.

The "A" response is what most kids say. We always want a detailed road map.
We say, "Lord if you can just tell me what this adventure is all about, I can make my own map and go."

But Jesus says, "you don't need all of that. You need to follow me one day at a time!"

Who really knows the way for you to go to have your BEST Life with God?
GOD! So He sent Jesus who knows the way.

Jesus said, "I am the way..." (John 14:6)
•He did not say "I will show you the way."
•He did not say, "I will give you a map."
•He did not say "I will tell you which direction to go."
• He said, "I AM THE WAY." Jesus knows the way.
Jesus is your map.

I have learned that when I stop trying to do things my way for Jesus, I can immediately do everything he tells me each day with a happy heart. He gives me plenty to do to fill every day with adventure. (Like obeying, doing what is right, praying for all sorts of things, and learning about him by reading my bible).   If I do what He says, I am ready incase He wants to use me for a special assignment!

THE ADVENTURE BEGINS

The Adventure Begins

Bible Passage:
John 5:17,19-24
(Jesus, God's Son)

Bible Truth: When we enter into a relationship with God, He invites us to an adventure in which we can be part of His work and experience Him in amazing ways. Because He is the Most Special Person of All.

Life Application: I can know God and be a part of the adventure of working with Him. Wow!!

Jesus said, "This is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent" (John 17:3)

The essence of eternal life and the purpose of this blog is for you to KNOW God and to KNOW Jesus, as the Most Special Person of All.  Knowing God means having an "I love you more than anyone in the universe" relationship with Him.

Through this relationship God shows you what he is like, he shows you his purposes and he shows you his way of doing things and then invites you to join Him on His BIG ADVENTURE!

When you obey, God accomplishes THROUGH YOU something ONLY GOD CAN DO! Isn't that exciting!? Then you come to know God in a more loving way by experiencing Him at work through your life!

Jesus said, "I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the full." (John 10:10) Would you like to experience the best life you can have on earth? You can, IF ... You are willing to say YES! To Gods invitation to make him the BEST and MOST LOVED person in your life!
